Speaking to San Diego about Social Media

It’s with great pleasure to announce my upcoming speaking engagement with the San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, ConVis for short. As a San Diego Native, the city never ceases to inspire my creativity, fuel my entrepreneurial spirit with great opportunities and provide me with endless options for enjoying everything San Diego has to offer from beaches, hiking, night life, dining, special events, etc.  For this gig I’ll be combining my passion for San Diego and enthusiasm for Social Media, two of my favorite subjects!  The opportunity to educate an organization that promotes and markets San Diego County as a vacation destination and convention site (which I constantly do on my own!) is a true honor.

I’ll be presenting 2 Social Media Workshops to ConVis members comprised of hotels, attractions, activities & tour companies, restaurants and other businesses that supply services to hotels/attractions/etc. at their E-Commerce Summit on December 1st, 2010. My first workshop will be customized for Social Media beginners who are just starting getting their feet wet in the space. My second workshop will be more high level, providing tips and insight on optimizing current social media strategies to those who are already active in the space.

In addition to the Social Media workshops I’ll be hosting, the other part of the conference is pairing hotels/attractions/tour companies with Online Travel Agencies – Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc – for one-on-one meetings to discuss business development opportunities. It will truly be a valuable event for attendees offering a variety of resources to grow their business.

In 2010, professional speaking has grown to be a significant part of my business.  I attribute my success to my true passion and desire to educating and empowering others with Social Media knowledge.  I will continue to build my platform for professional speaking for 2011 and beyond. In the meantime, if you’re interested in hiring me to speak at your event or to your organization I am more than happy to work with you in customizing an experience that’s unique for your audience.

Marketing Melodie Presents: Digital Media Dinners

A month ago I announced a Call for Speakers for an upcoming event. I’m now excited to announce the first of my Digital Media Dinners event series: Facebook and Twitter for Business.

I’ve met many business owners throughout the past year that are challenged in getting started with Social Media so I’ve taken the initiative to be a resource in this area. My goal for the event is to have attendees walk away with tactical and practical tips they can implement immediately into their marketing strategy. I also want to provide an opportunity for networking and growing business connections.

Domain Fest Dinner Networking

Every business owner knows they need a social media presence. Going to another event or conference and listening to someone talk about the “importance” of being on social media will not help grow your business. The real value now comes from being empowered with knowledge and tools on how to actually use social media properly. At the Digital Media Dinners attendees will learn hands on tips for excelling in Social Media.

The first Digital Media Dinners event takes place on Tuesday November 9th , 5:30pm at Jasmine Seafood Restaurant.  The event will focus on two popular networks, Facebook and Twitter.

Confirmed Panelists: Steve Stoloff, CEO of Vavi Sport and Social Club; Daniel Matthews, Marketing Director of the San Diego Asian Film Foundation; additional panelists TBA

Advanced Registration is $45 per person and $55 at the door. Marketing Melodie Facebook Fans will receive $5 off.

Event attendees must pre-register on the event page here. I look forward to seeing everyone at Marketing Melodie’s Inaugural Digital Media Dinners event!

Special thanks goes out to the event venue host, Jasmine Seafood Restaurant. Jasmine serves San Diego’s freshest seafood prepared Cantonese style, just like you’ll find in Hong Kong. Join them for Dim Sum, bring your friends for family-style dinner, or contact them to plan your next reception or business luncheon in their banquet facilities. They’re centrally located in Kearny Mesa, have adjustable private rooms to fit 10 to 200 people and event space for more than 500.

Call For Speakers: Business Owners Successfully Using Social Media

Every business owner knows they need a social media presence. Going to another event or conference and listening to someone talk about the “importance” of being on social media will not help grow your business. Although this information was once valuable, the real value now comes from being empowered with knowledge and tools on how to actually use social media properly. People need tactical tips on how to implement and insight on how to incorporate different social networks into their business starting today. Although results of being on social media aren’t immediate, immediate action will lead to long term success.

I’ve recognized the need for business owners to understand and use social media in a way that’s simple, effective and engaging to their audience so I’ve taken the initiative to host a series of dinner events that will teach hands-on, practical and tactical tips to business owners coming straight from the knowledge of other business owners  who are already succeeding in the space. Marketing Melodie Speaks Social Media in Beirut, Lebanon

I’ve been hinting to my social network for the past week that I have a big international trip coming up! I am proud to announce my next international speaking engagement in Beirut, Lebanon. The Internet Society hosts INET Conferences across the world. Earlier this year, they sent me to Hong Kong for the INET Asian Regional Conference and in a couple weeks I’ll be making my way to the Middle East.

Professional Speaking on social media, teaching educational classes and seminars and hosting social media workshops continues to grow as the most high demand services from my company. I started speaking a few years ago to share my enthusiasm and knowledge on marketing and how the digital tools I use could help others. As I gained more experience, I began to receive more requests to speak. Speaking became instrumental to the growth of my business and it noticeably benefited others so I developed a professional speaking platform as a business service I now offer through my company.

This year alone has been filled with significant opportunities for my speaking career both nationally and internationally. Getting paid to talk about a subject I’m passionate about while educating and empowering others with my knowledge is a true gift that I’m grateful for. My career is also presenting me with amazing chances to see the world with my next stop being Beirut, Lebanon.

Just a few years ago Beirut was a dangerous place full of turmoil. Since Beirut is gaining back up their reputation as a vibrant place to live, work and visit, the Internet Society recognized the need for a conference of this nature in Lebanon. They’ve made efforts to ensure a world class event with prestigious speakers and an educational agenda. I feel safe knowing that they’re providing secure travel accommodations for those coming from out of the country.

The famous traveler Anthony Bourdain most recognized for this show on the Travel Channel, No Reservations goes back to Beirut just earlier after a heart breaking trip in 2006 to show Americans the amazing food, sights and culture. CNN has an American correspondent in Beirut to report on the travel destination and Beirut tourism continues to grow as a prime spot for travelers to visit in the Middle East.

I leave for Beirut Lebanon on October 8th. I’ll be the featured Social Media speaker at event name on October 14th and will return to the states on October 18th. I’m excited and grateful for this opportunity. I’m also determined not to get jet lagged! Please feel free to share any travel tips, your own experience with traveling to the Middle East and your ideas presenting Social Media to a new audience.
