5 Ways to Engage Twitter Followers While at a Conference

Posted by Marketing Melodie On October - 22 - 2009

This blog was originally titled: “How to Not Annoy Your Twitter Followers While At a Conference” but I changed the title  to focus on what’s positive and what I do have (which is engaged followers) rather than what I’m lacking (which would be unfollowers).

The idea for this post came to mind during DMA09. I appreciate that content and conversations at conferences inspires me with creative blog ideas. Several conversations around social media were sparked by my usage during the event. Read the rest of this entry »

Social Networking Strengthened In Real Life

Posted by Marketing Melodie On August - 7 - 2009

Last week I had the honor of attending Twiistup, a premier event in Los Angeles that connects people from technology, media and entertainment. I met a plethora of amazing people from all walks of life who share a passion for staying at the cutting edge of technology.

Attending events and networking in person goes hand in hand with social networking. While we have a myriad of ways to communicate virtually, the power of a handshake still adds a personal touch that can’t be achieved through online communication. Having both is essential for me to build credibility and authenticity to strengthen my relationships. Read the rest of this entry »

Melodie on The Radio with Twitter Tips for Beginners

Posted by Marketing Melodie On April - 14 - 2009

In 2008 I posted the blog Traditional Media Companies It’s Time To Go Digital. I emphasized that if traditional media embraces social media and uses it strategically they now has a new opportunity to engage, interact and compel their audience. The time has come! The past few months Social Media and Twitter in particular have been all the hype through celebrities, news stations, radio and even newspapers.

San Diego’s Top 40 radio station, Channel 933 does a great job at having their on air personalities update and interact with listeners through Twitter. They realize as a radio station that represents pop culture they need to be at the forefront of what’s happening. As more people sign up for Twitter, more confusion is caused and it becomes difficult to understand what Twitter really is and how to benefit from it. I was invited by my friends on Channel 933’s morning show, AJ’s Playhouse to educate listeners on Twitter. If you’re finding my blog from the segment on April 14th then welcome! The invitation to the show inspired me to compile some Twitter tips for beginners.

The following tips will define my answer. Read the rest of this entry »
